Caldwell County Booking Photo Records
A mugshot is the photograph made during a booking. It belongs to that admission record, not to the later act of release. The same photo may remain attached to a sheriff profile or release card after custody ends. It identifies a booking episode, but it does not prove guilt, explain the final case result, or show whether the person was released to the community rather than transferred.
Missouri law does not create a blanket promise that every booking photo is always open. Chapter 610 law-enforcement rules, an active investigation, juvenile confidentiality, redaction, record closure, sealing, and expungement can limit access. The Caldwell County Custodian of Records decides the agency response under the law. If access is denied or part of an image is withheld, the written legal basis is more useful than an assumption drawn from an empty web result.
Always tie the image to the person's full name, booking date, case or booking number, and the originating agency. A Caldwell jail photograph is not a MODOC offender image. A press copy is not the original sheriff file. These labels matter once an online photo has been copied or reused.

Caldwell County has an official sheriff app distributed through links on the agency's own app page. That makes it a real alternate access channel for mobile agency content and alerts. The landing page does not say that every release card, booking field, or photo on the website also appears in the app. It also does not promise a longer photo archive.
Open the current app and inspect its inmate-roster or release feature. Match the displayed name to the booking date and charges where those fields appear. If the app and website differ, preserve the date checked and rely on the sheriff's record for a final answer. Never infer that an app-only absence means no booking image exists.

Why Caldwell Mugshots Vanish After Release
The sheriff's roster ecosystem visibly uses booking images, but the public released view lasts only 48 hours. A photo can therefore vanish from browsing simply because the release card aged out of the rolling window. No county source reviewed promises a permanent online display. The change is about web visibility, not necessarily agency retention.
Missouri's sheriff retention schedule gives inmate files containing admission and release dates, property receipts, and transfer information a minimum retention period of five years after release. That schedule does not extend the public website window, and it does not declare every retained item open. It does show why the Custodian of Records is the durable channel after the release card is gone.
A current-roster absence is also weak evidence. The person might have gone home, moved to another county, entered MODOC, or remained in federal custody after leaving CCDC. Use the short release card for a recent clue, then ask for the booking-and-release record and photo tied to the exact episode.
Note: On sources reviewed July 26, 2026, a missing Caldwell booking photo could reflect expiration, closure, redaction, or a search mismatch.
Request Caldwell County Booking Photos
Caldwell County requires sheriff records requests to be written and received by the Custodian of Records. Sending a casual message to another employee may not start the formal response process. Missouri does not require one universal form, but the sheriff provides an official request route and form. Narrow requests are easier to identify and price.
- Identify the person with full name and any known date of birth. Add the booking date range, case number, or booking number.
- Name the exact custody episode. Ask for the original public booking photograph or best available electronic copy attached to that episode.
- Include the related booking-and-release fields if needed: admission and release date and time, release type or authority, transfer destination if public, charges, and case numbers.
- Request electronic delivery and ask for an estimate before the work exceeds a stated limit. The county publishes research and duplication charges and requires applicable fees before dissemination.
- Send the request through the official Caldwell County records-request channel. Ask for the statutory basis of any redaction, closure, delay, or denial.
The county states that it responds within three business days. That is an initial response deadline, not a guarantee of production within that period. If production takes longer, the response should explain the delay and give the earliest access date. Released Sunshine copies may have personal identifiers blacked out and are not certified copies.
Caldwell County State Offender Images
A person transferred from CCDC into a Missouri prison becomes a state-record subject. MODOC's Offender Web Search can include an offender image for an active person committed to or supervised by the department. That picture is a MODOC image, not the Caldwell County booking photograph. Keep the source label with any saved copy.
Search the MODOC Offender Web Search by DOC number when it is known. A name search also accepts first and last name and can include aliases. Compare the result's identity, offense, sentence, county of conviction, and assigned institution or supervision district. MODOC's public portal excludes discharged offenders, so a no-result does not prove that an old image never existed.
If an older discharged record or image is not online, ask MODOC Public Information through its Sunshine channel. Supply the DOC number and request the official offender photograph if disclosable, along with the dates needed to identify the correct state episode. State and county custodians may apply different closures or redactions because they hold different records.

Caldwell County Mugshots in News
Local agency releases and reputable news reports sometimes reproduce an official arrest photo. Such a copy may remain online after the sheriff's 48-hour card expires. It is secondary evidence. Check the article date, event date, caption, and credited agency before matching it to the person or booking at issue.
Commercial mugshot galleries, people-search brokers, and pay-for-removal businesses are not official sources. Their images can be stale, mismatched, stripped of disposition context, or copied long after a record closes. No commercial source is linked or endorsed. Correct the originating government record first, then send a separate, documented correction request to any publisher carrying an inaccurate copy.
Case.net can add the public court outcome where available, but it is not a permanent sheriff-photo archive. A dismissal, bond entry, judgment, or sentence may explain what followed the arrest. The jail record remains the better source for the booking image and physical release time.
Caldwell County Mugshot Access Changes
Missouri section 610.140 governs expungement petitions, exclusions, objections, hearings, and legal effects. Closed records generally stop being public under section 610.120 while remaining available for specified official purposes. Section 610.100 also addresses closure of certain arrest records. A removed image may therefore reflect a lawful access change rather than a broken search.
Section 407.1150 covers criminal-record information that includes booking photographs. It bars a publisher or disseminator from soliciting or accepting payment from the subject to remove or correct covered information. The law does not ban all lawful publication and does not force every publisher to remove an accurate image at no charge.
For an incorrect official image or caption, preserve the exact page, date, and field. Send the sheriff or MODOC a concise correction request with reliable identifiers. If an expungement or closure order applies, provide it to the agency that created the record. Contact a secondary publisher only after the official source is corrected or its access status is confirmed.
Verify Caldwell County Mugshot Identity
Begin with one known custody episode. Compare the photograph with the full name, booking date, charges, case number, and source agency. Then determine whether the result concerns current custody, the sheriff's released view, a transfer, a state commitment, or a past case. A photo alone cannot answer those questions.
