Caldwell Detention Center Release Routes
Caldwell County Detention Center, often shortened to CCDC, is the local jail operated by the Caldwell County Sheriff's Department. A genuine local release can send a person home on bond, recognizance, another court order, time served, dismissal, or completion of a short county sentence. The CCDC release timestamp is the best local proof that facility processing ended. Missouri Case.net can show the court action that authorized the change.
Not every exit is a return to the community. CCDC holds people for Caldwell County, other local counties, and the United States Marshals Service. A sentenced person may be delivered to the Missouri Department of Corrections. Someone held for another county may go back to that county. A federal detainee can leave the building in USMS custody. The record should be described as a transfer unless the official entry supports community release.
| CCDC exit | Likely next source | What it confirms |
|---|---|---|
| Bond, court order, or time served | CCDC release record and Case.net | Local departure and legal authority |
| MODOC commitment | MODOC Offender Web Search | State intake, placement, or supervision |
| Other-county transfer | CCDC record and receiving county | Which local agency received custody |
| USMS movement | Federal docket, USMS channel, then BOP if applicable | Federal custody path, not automatic freedom |
| Immigration transfer | CCDC record and ICE locator when documented | End of county custody and possible immigration detention |
Confirm a CCDC Release
The sheriff maintains separate current and released views. The official recent-release control is labeled “View 48 Hour Release.” It is the first source for a local event from roughly the prior two days. The current roster answers a different question: whether CCDC still lists the person in custody. A missing current entry is not proof of release, while a current entry weighs against a completed local departure.
- Open the official 48-hour release view and sort release events newest first.
- Match the name with any booking date, photograph, charges, and profile details displayed.
- Check the separate current roster to see whether CCDC still reports present custody.
- Review Case.net for bond, dismissal, sentence, release order, or commitment in the matching case.
- Call the detention line when same-day timing matters or processing may still be underway.
- Request the booking-and-release record for durable proof or an event outside the public window.
Transfer warning: A release from CCDC ends that facility's custody, but the person may move at once to another county, MODOC, or federal custody.
The sheriff's official home page shows the two local choices side by side.
The separate controls help prevent a current-custody roster from being mistaken for an archive of people released from the Caldwell County Detention Center.
Note: The official roster controls were reviewed July 26, 2026; live entries and interface details can change after that date.
CCDC Release Records and Contact
For an older event, write to the Caldwell County Custodian of Records. Identify the person and one custody episode with a full name, known birth date, booking date, booking number, case number, and a narrow date range. Ask for public admission and release timestamps, the release category or authority, transfer destination if open, tied case numbers, and the booking photograph if needed. Electronic delivery and a fee estimate can control cost.

The county requires a written request received by the custodian. It states that an initial response will issue within three business days. Production may take longer, and the response should explain a delay. The published research charge is $22.45 per hour, with applicable copy or duplication costs. Fees may be required in advance. Released Sunshine copies may have personal identifiers blacked out and are described as non-certified.
CCDC Bond and Release Processing
The sheriff's bond instructions say an arrestee receives applicable bond information. Cash bonds may be posted at CCDC, and the lobby kiosk is available 24 hours a day, seven days a week. The kiosk is a payment channel. It does not set the moment of physical release. Staff still must confirm the court's authority, the payment, the person's identity, other cases, detainers, and any receiving agency.
Use Case.net or call the detention center for bond information. A bond entry can explain why release should occur, but only the completed jail record supplies the operational departure time. Another hold can prevent a person from going home even after one bond has been satisfied.
- Bond
- A financial or legal condition tied to pretrial release while the case continues.
- Recognizance
- A court-approved pretrial release that does not rely on a cash bond in the same way.
- Detainer
- A basis for another authority to receive or continue custody.
- Transfer
- Movement to another custodian, not release to the community.
CCDC Release Context Since 2004
CCDC opened in 2004 as a pretrial and short-sentence detention center. It houses both men and women. The official facility page also says the jail holds people from various other local counties and the USMS. That operating history matters to release research because the public roster is not a list of Caldwell County criminal cases alone.
A transfer entry can close CCDC's role while another agency continues confinement. When the destination is MODOC, search the state portal after intake and use MODOC records for state release or discharge. When the person was a USMS detainee, the federal case docket and appropriate federal channel may be needed before BOP has a record. USMS has no broad public locator equal to BOP's prison locator.
CCDC Release Capacity Numbers
The dedicated detention page describes a 178-bed design and reports an average of 45 staff. The sheriff's home page separately says the facility may house up to 200 people. These figures should remain distinct. The 178 figure is the designed capacity from the facility page; the 200 statement is broader operational wording. Neither number is a daily release count.
The facility's size and mixed population explain why a Caldwell County Detention Center release needs an agency check. The right question is not just whether a name vanished. It is which custodian held the person next.
Property After a CCDC Release
Ordinary personal belongings taken at arrest, when they are not evidence, are turned over to the jail. Questions about those items go to CCDC at 816-586-5245. Missouri's sheriff retention schedule places cash and property receipts in the inmate file, so a focused release-record request can ask for the public receipt tied to that booking.
Investigative evidence follows another process. The sheriff's Property and Evidence page describes a return letter, an appointment, valid state identification, and possible proof of ownership. It also says unclaimed property may be disposed of after 30 days and identifies some nonreturnable items. That evidence process must not be confused with routine jail-held belongings returned during a CCDC release.
Historical county audit material documents past ICE detainees and cash reconciliation at release, but it does not establish a current ICE contract. A present-day immigration transfer must be confirmed through CCDC and the current ICE system.
Older CCDC Release Records
The public 48-hour window is short. The underlying records last longer. Missouri's August 2024 Sheriff Records Retention Schedule gives inmate files, including admission and release dates, property receipts, and transfer information, a five-year-after-release minimum. Booking sheets and arrest files have a separate five-year minimum. General jail activity logs, including transport, also carry a five-year minimum.
Retention is not a promise that every field remains public. Chapter 610, expungement, juvenile rules, active cases, privacy, and security can affect disclosure. Ask for the narrow record, accept a lawful redaction explanation, and use the court for a certified order. The full Caldwell County released-inmate search and records path is consolidated on the Caldwell County release records home page.
For state history, request MODOC records with the DOC number. For federal prison history, use the BOP Inmate Locator and federal case source. A BOP status of “Released” or “Not in BOP Custody” answers only whether BOP presently holds the person. It does not rule out local, state, immigration, pretrial, or supervised-release status.
A useful older-record request also asks the custodian to distinguish the releasing authority from the receiving authority. If the file contains a transport entry, name that entry in the request and ask for the public destination field. This wording helps separate a completed community release from a routine move between custodians. When a field is withheld, ask for the legal basis rather than filling the gap with an assumption.
